Edwin Young
The collection comprises approximately 535 watercolours, drawings and unfinished works of art by Edwin Young (1831-1913). Young was a competent watercolourist and often illustrated Salisbury and the surrounding area. His work provides an important source of topographical and social historical content for the area from the middle of the 19th century to the period just before the First World War.
Complementing this historic collection is a growing collection of watercolours by artists from all periods, illustrating the versatility and unique qualities of the watercolour medium.
Some of Edwin Young's work can be seen on display in Gallery 2.
