John Creasey (1908-1973) wrote over 600 books. He was best known for his crime and thriller novels, but he also wrote romance, westerns and science fiction. Creasey was a fast writer, and was able to produce up to 36 novels a year. He sometimes used pseudonyms for his works, including Gordon Ashe, Norman Deane and Michael Halliday. Towards the end of his life, Creasey moved to New Hall in Bodenham, just outside of Salisbury. The Creasey collection housed at the Young Gallery consists of objects that were located in Creasey's study when he died in 1973.
